Ron Some

Though many folks in the hospice and home health community know me, for the sake of those who don’t, I would like to share a bit about my background. I grew up in Sacramento, California, and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area to go to college at the University of California at Berkeley – also known as Cal. After completing my undergraduate work and prior to becoming an executive recruiter, I spent several years as a fundraiser for the health sciences at my alma mater. I am a die hard Cal Bear!

Among my extracurriculars, I interview Cal Alumni Association scholarship candidates and also volunteer with hospice patients and their families.

I am currently based in The Corridor Group’s San Francisco office and find it both interesting and rewarding to work with hospice and home health clients all over the country to find the best talent for their executive teams. I’ve particularly enjoyed my past year’s work on multiple Executive Director searches for non-profit, freestanding hospice providers. We in the industry are no doubt starting to see many of our founding hospice leaders retire and our next generation of leadership stepping up to face a myriad of healthcare challenges, including health care reform, chronic disease management and an ever increasing elderly population that will need to be cared for.

One of the things I like most about my recruiter role is hearing all of the uplifting and moving stories that our hospice and home health leaders have to share with me. They make me feel good about working in our sector and ensuring that the next generation of talented leaders will be there to care for us all. I look forward to seeing what 2011 has in store!
